Tara is a freelance performer and teacher in Nashville Tennessee. She is the horn instructor at Belmont University, also teaching aural skills courses. She has maintained a private horn studio in the Nashville area for over 10 years with several students achieving honors with the Tennessee All-State Orchestras and Bands. Tara currently holds the position of 2nd Horn in the Owensboro Symphony and is an active player with the Nashville Symphony, Nashville Opera, Huntsville Symphony, Orchestra Kentucky, Evansville Philharmonic, and more. Frequently performing on recording sessions in Nashville, Tara can be heard on several soundtrack recordings for movies, video games, television shows, theme park recordings, etc. Some of her recording credits include:

Tara studied at Calvin College in Grand Rapids Michigan and Belmont University, and received a graduate degree in Horn Performance from Middle Tennessee State University. She has performed at the International Horn Society Symposium, has shared the stage with artists such as Josh Groban, Sigur Ros, Michael W Smith, Lee Greenwood, Steven Curtis Chapman, Tommee Profitt, Renee Fleming, and more; and she co-authored the textbook "The Music Dictation Book," used within the music theory department at Belmont University.

Each lesson plan adapts to the student's individual needs, often focusing on air support, embouchure and articulation, musicality, practice tips, and performance skills.
